Drug interactions of Reductil
When using sibutramine hydrochloride it is very important to note the drug’s interaction with other medications.
While ordinarily Reductil is well tolerated by most users, the medication may have an adverse effect on your body if used along with other over-the-counter, illicit or prescription drugs.
In addition, Reductil may negatively affect your ability to concentrate or focus on a task at hand. This makes it imperative for users NOT to drive or engage in activities involving the use of machinery if they are observing a Reductil cycle.
Here are some drug interactions of Reductil that you should be aware of.
Do NOT use Reductil with other Weight Reduction Medication
Sibutramine hydrochloride is a highly effective weight loss prescription drug. Using this medication in its own is effective enough to resolve your overweight and obesity concerns.
Therefore, it is advisable that you do NOT use Reductil in combination with any other weight loss over-the-counter or prescription drug without the express recommendation of your doctor.
Reductil and Allergy Medication
If you are on any medication for allergies or even for the common cold, cough and/or catarrh, you should consult your doctor before starting a Reductil cycle. Using allergy medication in combination with sibutramine hydrochloride may cause lightheadedness, sleepiness, nausea, an inability to focus and headaches in some users.
There are also more severe side effects that could arise from the use of Reductil with allergy drugs, but the degree of severity will vary from patient to patient.
Reductil and Alcohol
Reductil does NOT go well with alcohol. It is therefore recommended that you stop drinking alcohol before and during your use of this prescription medication. Alcohol can dull the senses and put you in a state of stupor. When you then introduce Reductil in your system (which may also affect your level of alertness), it could be a recipe for disaster.
Pain Killers, Sedatives, Sleeping Pills and Sibutramine Hydrochloride
Just as cold, cough or allergy medication should NOT be taken without a doctor’s recommendation when you are on a Reductil dosage, so also should any sedative, sleeping pill or pain killers be avoided.
All these sort of medications can contribute to a user being less alert and sleepy. If you need to engage in other activities while using Reductil, then combining this medication with sedatives will greatly hamper your ability to effectively carry out tasks.
Also, medication for epilepsy, seizures, anxiety, depression and muscle relaxers can also make you sleepy. These drug interactions of Reductil pose a potential danger to users and should be avoided unless your doctor says otherwise.
If you are on any of these drugs, consult your doctor before you start taking a prescribed Reductil dosage:
- Tryptophan,
- Citalopram or desvenlafaxine (antidepressants),
- Zolmitriptan, sumatriptan (headache and migraine medication),
- Meperidine, pentazocine or fentanyl (pain medications),
These are just a few out of a very long list of medications that may NOT go well with the use of Reductil without a proper assessment by your doctor. Always seek the advise of a competent medical practitioner before using any drug and that includes sibutramine hydrochloride.
